Mission
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oshkosh Area will strengthen the future of our community and enhance the lives of children and youth by providing qualified adult volunteers for one-to-one and group mentoring.
A small organization with a big mission needs many, many community partners. And Oshkosh Big Brothers Big Sisters has vibrant partnerships with schools, funders such as United Way, businesses which offer cash and in-kind support, and university, church and community groups who offer volunteer mentors.
Community partnerships empower Oshkosh Big Brothers to create and sustain record numbers of successful one-to-one mentoring relationships for the community's youth. In 2001 a record 451 school-age children benefited from one-to-one mentoring in school and other community settings. Volunteer mentors spent nearly 30,000 hours in 2001 with those 451 mentored youth in school and other community settings.
